Going Deeper: How Are The Mighty Fallen – 2 Samuel 1:1-27

The death of King Saul of Israel was tragic and at the same time necessary. The king had shown that he was unwilling to fully repent of his sins, and he was ruled by pride and fear. Instead of willingly relinquishing the throne as would have been right, he stubbornly held onto the rule of the kingdom even though he had been reluctant to accept the assignment in the beginning. Saul’s life and death are a case study in the results of a people defying the will of God to have what they think they want only to find out too late that their desires were contrary to the will of God.

Any time we go our own way without acknowledging God, we are at major risk of not only failure but catastrophe. The Bible is full of accounts of those who did that which was right in their eyes. This relative morality without the sure foundation of God’s Word is bound to crumble.

Join us this week as we go deeper into this study and learn how to avoid these pitfalls.   You can access the Bible Study handout here.
